How a village gets charging

Every village starts with an empty battery. Sign-ups fill the first cell, and each step after that brings charging closer.

Could you host chargers?

The hardest part of bringing charging to a village is finding the right spot. If you own or run somewhere with room for a few cars overnight, we'd like to hear from you.

That could be a pub or club car park, a community centre, a church hall, a business yard or a patch of spare land. We're open to leasing or buying the right space.

Questions

Who is it for?

Mainly people who can't charge at home because they park on the street or in shared parking. Anyone with an electric car is welcome to book.

How much does it cost?

You pay per kWh for the energy you use, with nothing to sign up to. Menston's current price is on menstonevcharging.co.uk. Each new village will have its price published before it opens.

How long does a charge take?

The Menston charger is 7.4kW, which adds around 25 miles of range for every hour plugged in. An evening-to-morning slot fills most cars, or gets them close.

My village isn't on the map. Could it have chargers?

Possibly. Register your interest and tell us which village. We look at the places with the most sign-ups first, and a car park or bit of land we could use makes a big difference.

Who runs Community EV Charging?

It's run locally by the team behind Menston EV Charging, based at 6 Main Street, Menston. Community EV Charging is how we're bringing the same idea to other villages.

What do you do with my details?

We only use them to contact you about charging near you and to plan where chargers go. We don't sell or share them. There's more on our privacy page.
